QUESTIONS TO ASK & THE ADVANTAGES OF USING AN AGENCY

Are your caregivers bonded and insured?  Do you run a criminal history background check on all of your staff?

To reduce risk, all caregivers should be covered by liability and workers                compensation insurances.  State background checks should be conducted to prove that a caregiver is free of previous criminal involvement.  ComForcare Home Care Services is licensed, bonded and insured.  Background checks are completed.

What type of experience do you require your caregivers to have?  Do you provide ongoing training to your caregivers?

It’s important for previous employment histories to be checked to verify experience. ComForcare recommends two years of prior client care experience.  It is vital that additional and on-going training is offered to caregivers to ensure that the highest quality of services is delivered.

Are you available 24/7?  If not what do I do if I have a problem after regular business hours?  What happens if my caregiver doesn’t show up?  What happens if a caregiver gets hurt when working for me?

24/7 availability of administrative staff and/or supervisors from an agency will allow you to provide feedback on issues and occurrences that need immediate attention as they relate to your care.  An agency can provide a fill-in for a caregiver who doesn’t show up, as well as direction for a caregiver who may become hurt on the job.

Do you pay the caregiver or do I?

To ensure that proper taxes are withheld from payment to the caregiver, an agency will pay the caregiver directly.  The services provided to you are billed to you after completion of the service.  This will ensure that you are billed for correct amount of hours worked by the caregiver.

What if I don’t like the caregiver or we do not get along?

Working with an agency will give you the option to change the caregiver you have.  When hiring independently, this option isn’t available.
